By accessing or using Zollang, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services. You must be at least 13 years of age to use Zollang. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

2. Description of Service

Zollang is an AI-powered language learning platform that helps users learn languages through comprehensible input and spaced repetition. Our service includes:

Lesson creation — Create personalized lessons from your own content such as songs, articles, and books
Vocabulary tracking — Track and review vocabulary using spaced repetition (SM-2 algorithm) with mastery levels
Aligned sentences — Color-coded word alignments between your target language and your native language
Contextual reviews — AI-generated stories that reinforce your vocabulary in fresh contexts
AI Tutor — Real-time voice conversations with an AI tutor that naturally uses your lesson vocabulary
Pre-made lesson packs — Curated lesson packs created by Zollang for structured learning paths
Text-to-speech audio — Audio pronunciation for vocabulary words and sentences

3. User Accounts

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

Provide accurate and complete information
Maintain the security of your account credentials
Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
Maintain only one account per person

4. User-Submitted Content

You may submit text content (such as song lyrics, articles, book excerpts, or other written material) to create personalized language lessons. By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:

You have the right to use the content for personal language learning purposes
The content does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights
The content does not contain illegal, harmful, or offensive material

Zollang does not claim ownership of text you submit. Your submitted content is treated as confidential and is not shared with other users. Submitted text is processed by our AI systems solely for the purpose of generating your language lessons, vocabulary analysis, and aligned translations.

5. AI-Generated Content

Zollang uses artificial intelligence to generate language learning content, including lessons, aligned sentence translations, contextual review stories, and vocabulary analysis. While we strive for accuracy:

AI-generated translations, definitions, and grammatical explanations may contain errors or inaccuracies
AI-generated content is not a substitute for professional language instruction or certified translations
We recommend verifying important translations or linguistic information from authoritative sources

AI tutor conversations are generated in real-time and voice audio is never recorded or stored. Session metadata (such as duration and vocabulary words used) and a text transcript of the conversation are retained to support your learning progress; both are included in your data export and removed on account deletion.

6. AI Tutor Voice Conversations

Zollang offers real-time voice conversations with an AI tutor. By using this feature, you understand and agree that:

Voice data is streamed and processed in real-time by our AI service providers to generate responses
Zollang does not store recordings of your voice; a text transcript of the conversation is retained to track your learning progress
Session metadata (duration, vocabulary words you produced) is retained to track your learning progress
The AI tutor's responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may occasionally be inaccurate or unnatural

7. Text-to-Speech Services

Zollang generates audio pronunciations for vocabulary words and sentences using text-to-speech technology provided by third-party services. Generated audio is cached on our servers to improve performance. Text-to-speech audio is provided for your personal language learning use only and may not be redistributed, sold, or used for commercial purposes.

Some Luxembourgish audio is generated with the voice model lb_LU-femaleLOD-medium by Marco Barnig, trained with the Piper text-to-speech system on a Luxembourgish speech dataset provided by the Zenter fir d'Lëtzebuerger Sprooch (ZLS). The voice model is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) and is used without modification.

8. Intellectual Property

The Zollang platform, including its design, features, code, guided lesson bundles, frequency lists, and original content, is owned by Zollang and protected by intellectual property laws. AI-generated lesson content created for you is licensed for your personal, non-commercial use. You retain all rights to the original text you submit to the platform.

9. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
Upload malicious code or harmful content
Submit content that infringes on the copyright or intellectual property rights of others
Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the service
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform
Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit AI-generated content or text-to-speech audio

10. Third-Party Services

Zollang relies on third-party services to deliver its features. By using Zollang, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by the following categories of providers in accordance with their respective terms and privacy policies:

AI and language processing providers — Text analysis, AI tutor conversations, and content generation
Text-to-speech providers — Audio pronunciation generation
Authentication and infrastructure providers — User authentication, database hosting, and cloud infrastructure
Stripe — Payment processing

Zollang is not responsible for the practices or policies of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their terms and privacy policies.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Zollang is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose
Use of the platform will result in any particular level of language proficiency

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zollang shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the platform or sending an email to the address associated with your account. Continued use of the service after changes have been posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
