Getting started
Welcome to Zollang. Four steps take you from a new account to your first finished lesson.
1
Create your account
- Sign up with your email — we send you a sign-in code, no password needed — or continue with Google.
- In the Zollang app you can also continue with Apple, or start as a guest and create an account later to keep your progress.
- Your free plan starts right away: one lesson of each kind to try, plus vocabulary review and pre-made lessons.
2
Set up your learning profile
- Choose the language you're learning and your native language — you can change both later from the language menu in the navigation.
- Pick your difficulty tier: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate or Advanced. It sets the level of the texts Zollang writes for you, and you can change it from the level dialog on your dashboard.
- Choose the language of the interface in Settings, if it isn't the one you'd like.
3
Create your first lesson
- Select Create (the + button), then choose what you're bringing: your own text (or have Zollang write one), a page to scan, a YouTube link, an article or topic for a slow podcast, or a word list.
- Not sure where to start? Pick a pre-made lesson — it costs no credits and is ready in a moment.
- Zollang checks the language, picks out the vocabulary, builds the audio and opens the lesson when it's ready.
4
Do your first session
- Study: hear each sentence, understand it piece by piece, then say it yourself. If you can't speak right now, turn on tap practice and answer by tapping instead.
- Recap: at the end of the session you rebuild each sentence and recall its new word — that's what makes it stick.
- Then read the whole text at your own pace in Read, and go over anything you missed in Exercises.
- Your new words go into your vocabulary and come back for spaced review when it's time.
Quick tips
- 1.Start with a short text to get a feel for how a session works.
- 2.Use headphones — for the session, for Conversation and for the Pronunciation coach.
- 3.Mark the words you already know as known, so your reviews stay focused on new vocabulary.
- 4.Review your words a little every day to keep your streak and remember more.
