Understand natives
Ear training helps you understand people who speak fast and casually. You hear a sentence the way a native would say it, with the text hidden, then reveal what was said.
Where to find it
Open Create new lesson and choose the Ear training tile below the ways to make a lesson. It takes you to the Ear training page.
You'll also find it on the Listen page and on the Overview of every lesson you've finished, where it opens that lesson's own sentences the way natives say them. Finishing a lesson's Recap offers it once, too.
Pre-made lessons
Filter by level or search by title, then open a lesson to see its level and how many sentences it has. It plays right there when you start it: pre-made ear lessons aren't added to your library.
From your lessons
Choose From your lessons to train your ear on a text lesson you made. Only finished text lessons in the language you're learning are listed.
How a session works
Listen first: each sentence plays at native pace with the text hidden; replay as often as you like, then reveal.
The reveal shows the written line, the words a native would use under "How natives say it", and how it sounds.
Study any sentence in place — translation, words, an explanation — without leaving the path.
Free plan and credits
Free plan: a monthly allowance of curated lessons — the exact figure is on the Credits & billing page. Preparing one of your own lessons costs credits; reopening it is free.
Languages
Ear training is available for most languages you can learn. If your language doesn't have it yet, you won't see the tile or the page.
